John earned a bachelor of science degree in communications from Kennesaw State University in Georgia and worked with the IBM Company for 23 years.  He currently owns the Five Star Painting of Pensacola franchise.

John married his high-school sweetheart, Cindy, forty years after high school.  He claims to be a late bloomer.  Together they have 5 adult children and eight grandchildren.
